Writing paper reaches 6 million tomans a ream in Tehran

The price of writing paper in the Tehran market reached 6 million tomans per ream on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. According to Tejarat News, the increase came alongside a widening price bubble in Tehran's paper and cardboard market.
Writing paper is the principal input for Iran's publishing and printing industry, and a jump in its price feeds directly into the cost of books and periodicals. Industry participants say the current price level has moved beyond what publishers can absorb.
Iran's paper market depends heavily on imports and on the exchange rate, and swings in the currency market are typically reflected in this commodity's price after a short lag.
