Bandar Imam Khomeini port said in a statement that in the early hours of Thursday, 30 July 2026, a hostile drone was intercepted and destroyed in the skies over the city of Bandar Imam Khomeini. The statement, carried by the Tasnim news agency, did not specify the origin of the drone.
According to the statement, debris from the drone fell on one of the homes in the city of Bandar Imam Khomeini after it was destroyed, and the incident caused no casualties. It added that after identification the drone was made safe and the hazard removed by the Revolutionary Guard's check and neutralise team at Bandar Imam Khomeini, and then transferred. The statement made no mention of damage to port facilities or any interruption to port operations.
Bandar Imam Khomeini, in Khuzestan province at the head of the Persian Gulf, is one of Iran's largest commercial ports and a main entry point for essential goods imports, as well as the site of the Mahshahr petrochemical complexes. Any security incident in its vicinity therefore matters for the country's essential goods supply chain and petrochemical exports.
