Shana, the Iranian oil ministry's news service, reported on Thursday, 30 July 2026, that a meeting was held to review the executive directive of the system for managing, monitoring and optimising the consumption of water and energy carriers.
According to the report, the meeting was attended by Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah, the executive deputy to the president, along with deputies of the oil minister, and its purpose was to review the programmes of the relevant bodies in implementing the directive.
Demand side management of water and energy carriers is one of the pillars of Iranian economic policymaking amid the country's gas and power shortfall. The meeting was held in a period when, according to the spokesperson for parliament's energy commission, the national power shortfall has fallen below 10,000 megawatts, and the National Iranian Gas Company has said that projects run by service companies will deliver 980 million cubic metres of gas savings by the end of the year. Details of the meeting's decisions were not published in the Shana report.
