Bitcoin's Sharp Short Squeeze Rally Lifts Total Crypto Market Value

According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, citing Bloomberg and Coinglass, bitcoin surged nearly 8 percent during US trading hours on Monday, September 21, 2026 (30 Shahrivar 1405), touching a high of 87,381 dollars, its highest level since January, and triggering more than 920 million dollars in short position liquidations in perpetual futures. Coinglass data showed open interest in those contracts reached about 160 billion dollars, the highest since late October 2025. Donya-e-Eqtesad reported the rally pushed the total digital asset market value above 3 trillion dollars again for the first time since January. Live CoinGecko data showed that figure had eased back to roughly 2.93 trillion dollars as of 16:08 Tehran time on Tuesday, September 22 (31 Shahrivar). US spot bitcoin ETFs took in a net 999 million dollars on Monday, their largest single day inflow since October 6, 2025. Sahmino's price board showed bitcoin trading around 86,150 dollars as of 16:04 Tehran time Tuesday.
