Bitget Temporarily Suspends Withdrawals After Hot Wallet Hack
25 September 2026 · 14 days ago
Crypto exchange Bitget said in an official statement that about $351.6 million in assets was moved without authorisation in an attack on parts of its hot wallet layers. According to ArzDigital, reporting on Friday, September 25, 2026 (3 Mehr 1405), withdrawals have been temporarily suspended while deposits and trading continue, and cold wallets were untouched. Bitget says its initial investigation shows no private key leak and that its user protection fund, worth more than $464 million, will fully cover the losses.
According to Bitget, the attackers gained access to back-end services and injected forged transaction data into the signing and approval process; most of the assets taken were 102.93 million XRP, 31,890 ETH and stablecoins. Chief executive Gracy Chen said some IP addresses matched the pattern of a North Korean hacking group, though no official body has confirmed the link. Withdrawals will resume once the review is complete.
