Blasts heard in east Tehran are a controlled ordnance demolition at Parchin in two windows on Sunday
2 August 2026 | 3 months ago
As part of the continuing effort to clear unexploded ordnance left from the recent attacks, a controlled demolition operation was carried out on Sunday 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405) in the Parchin area in the east of Tehran province. The operation runs in two windows, from 09:00 to 11:00 in the morning and from 14:00 to 16:00 in the afternoon.
According to the notice, the work is being carried out by specialist inspection and disposal teams, and explosions may be audible in the area. Residents have been asked to remain calm and to disregard rumours.
Donya-e-Eqtesad, in a separate report the same day, also attributed the sound of explosions at Parchin to an ordnance demolition operation in the area. Advance notice of such operations matters because rumours of explosions in Tehran have been one of the drivers of short term swings in the currency market in recent weeks.
