20 September 2026 · 21 days ago
Blink Wallet, a payment platform on Bitcoin's Lightning Network, reported a security breach on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and temporarily suspended its services. According to Arzdigital's report published on September 20, 2026, citing the platform's official statement on X, an attacker gained access to a limited number of custodial accounts, several dozen in total, and withdrew their balances.
Blink's team said the vast majority of user funds and all non custodial accounts remained fully secure, and that all affected users would be fully compensated. The platform said the incident did not affect the core Lightning Network and was limited to one centralized service provider, which is why bitcoin's price showed no notable reaction to the news.
