Michael Saylor, founder and chairman of Strategy, signaled on Sunday, September 20, 2026 that the company may resume institutional Bitcoin purchases, posting on X along with a chart of the firm's six year buying history. According to the company's most recent disclosed purchase on August 31, it added 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318 (about $370 million); Strategy had since paused direct Bitcoin buying to focus on share buybacks. The remark came after a turbulent week for markets in which the US Senate blocked the CLARITY Act, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates, and the Bank of Japan lifted its rate to its highest level in 31 years.
