Iran Notifies Formation of Temporary Crypto Exchange Regulatory Working Group With 13 Bodies

According to Digiato, republished by Arzdigital on September 20, 2026, Iran's decree forming a temporary regulatory working group for crypto asset exchange platforms, approved by the Supreme Council for Cyberspace Regulation on May 28, 2025, was formally notified for implementation on September 5, 2026, roughly 15 months after its approval.
The working group includes 13 bodies, among them the Central Bank, the Securities and Exchange Organization, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Cyber Police (FATA), the Ministry of Intelligence and private sector representatives. Over an 18 month mandate, it will draft rules, set a compliance timeline for existing exchanges, supervise implementation and issue operating licenses for crypto exchange platforms. Under the decree, the working group must meet at least once every two weeks and report to the cryptocurrency specialized committee.
