Cabinet Approves "Single-Run Transport" Scheme So Trucks Stop Waiting at the Border

Economy and Finance Minister Seyed Ali Madanizadeh said on Thursday, October 8, 2026 (16 Mehr 1405) that the cabinet approved the "single-run transport" (hamle yekasare) project at its meeting on Sunday, 12 Mehr (October 4). Under the decision, borders will no longer be places where trucks and tractor units are held; they become transit points only. On arrival, goods undergo only initial controls and checks at the border and are then moved inland in transit, with the main customs formalities completed at inland customs offices.
Madanizadeh said the scheme came out of cooperation among Customs, the Free Zones Organization, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Interior Ministry and other trade bodies. He added that for purely customs procedures, clearance time has fallen and now averages 73 hours (about three days), with efforts to cut it further continuing. According to the minister, full implementation will sharply reduce freight costs that were previously imposed unnecessarily on businesses and, ultimately, on the public.
