Central Bank Extends to 20 March 2027 the Window for Funding Imports From Exporters' Own Licences
Sahmino Newsroom | 5 November 2026 | yesterday
In a circular reported on Thursday 5 November 2026 (14 Aban 1405) by Donya-e-Eqtesad, the Central Bank of Iran set 29 Esfand 1405 (20 March 2027) as the deadline for using exporters' own export earnings to fund imports. Under the circular, exporters who filed customs declarations by 9 Khordad 1405 (30 May 2026) for essential goods, necessities and inputs for production lines can draw on their export licences from the Iranian year 1401 onward until that date, subject to the circular's notes.
According to the Iran Exports Confederation, as cited in the same report, where the 15-month legal window for meeting an export licence's FX obligation has expired, the exporter must first pay the prescribed rial amount for the unmet obligation. Once it is paid, the licence can be registered in the comprehensive trade system as the source of import FX. The report does not carry the full text of the circular or its notes.
