Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati responded on the evening of Sunday, 5 Mehr 1405 (27 September 2026) to the US Treasury Secretary's remarks about the impact of the Trump administration's economic pressure on Iran. "If he means the control of liquidity and point-to-point inflation turning downward in Shahrivar, after 15 months, then this time his remarks are certainly correct," Hemmati said, adding that these developments followed from the central bank's monetary policy and measures.
According to figures Hemmati announced on Saturday, 4 Mehr (26 September), point-to-point inflation for Shahrivar 1405 stood at 83.8 percent, 0.6 percentage points below Mordad, and monthly inflation for Shahrivar was 3.9 percent. On the same day he described a monthly rate of around 4 percent as still high.
