28 September 2026 · 9 days ago

According to EcoIran, at the Central Bank of Iran's 26th open-market operations auction, whose results were published on Monday, 28 September 2026 (6 Mehr 1405), the bank again allotted 70 trillion tomans in seven-day repurchase agreements (repos) at a minimum rate of 23 percent, but, unlike the two previous auctions, received no orders for outright bond purchases. At the 25th auction it had bought about 2.06 trillion tomans of securities outright.

This time 13 banks and credit institutions submitted a combined 291.16 trillion tomans in repo orders, against 417.49 trillion tomans from 16 banks the week before, a drop of about 126.33 trillion tomans, or 30.3 percent, which lifted the accepted share of orders from 16.8 percent to 24 percent. Use of the standing lending facility, priced at the 24 percent corridor ceiling, also fell from 44.19 trillion tomans on 1 Mehr (23 September) to 7.8 trillion tomans on 5 Mehr (27 September) and 1.2 trillion tomans on 6 Mehr (28 September), a sign that some of the liquidity pressure on banks has eased, although a few banks still rely on the facility.
