Iran's Central Bank announced in a circular that the translation rate for banks' foreign currency assets and liabilities in financial statements ending late Shahrivar 1405 (September 22, 2026) will be set based on the buy rate at the Iran Currency and Gold Exchange Center on the 31st of Shahrivar. According to Khabar Online's report on September 20, 2026, the exchange center's dollar buy rate currently stands at about 166,600 tomans, compared with just 69,215 tomans used for the Shahrivar 1404 financial statements a year earlier, a 141 percent increase over one year.

The higher translation rate will directly affect banks' Shahrivar financial statements: banks holding more foreign currency assets than liabilities will see the rial value of those assets rise, allowing them to book translation gains.
