Central Bank Weighs a New Way of Supplying Import Currency for Some Goods

Mohammadreza Farshchian, head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce's import commission, told Mehr News Agency on Sunday, 5 Mehr 1405, that the central bank's new plans to replace currency allocation for some groups of goods, and to change how currency is supplied and allocated for others, had been reviewed at the chamber in the presence of a special assistant to the central bank governor.

According to Farshchian, the plan may be put forward as a central bank proposal at the highest levels of government and could ultimately lead to a partial overhaul of how currency is supplied and allocated for the country's imports. Details of the plan and the groups of goods it would cover have not yet been announced.
The review comes as the dollar remittance at the Iran Exchange Center for Currency and Gold was priced at 171,740 tomans for Sunday, 5 Mehr.
