Deputy oil minister: 76 percent of Iran's gas resources lie offshore
26 July 2026 · 2 months ago
Iran's deputy oil minister said in Mashhad on Saturday, 25 July 2026, that 76 percent of the country's gas resources lie offshore, and that gas has so far been extracted along 110 kilometres of the coastline.
The remarks come as Iran's gas industry contends with falling reservoir pressure at South Pars and seasonal supply imbalances, with a pressure-boosting programme for the field now on the agenda.
The high share of offshore resources means most future upstream gas investment will depend on offshore equipment, technology and marine contracting capacity, a point of relevance for oil and gas companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange.
