National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company: 1,000 CNG stations to supply free gas, station count reaches 2,370
26 July 2026 · 3 months ago
The CNG programme manager at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said on Saturday, 25 July 2026, that 1,000 stations across the country will supply compressed natural gas (CNG) free of charge.
He said 2,370 CNG stations are currently operating in Iran and that more than 15 percent of the country's vehicles are dual-fuel. The same company had earlier reported that distributing more than 6 billion cubic metres of CNG last year saved the equivalent of 6 billion litres of petrol.
The move comes as the government weighs Iran's petrol balance and a possible revision of quotas or prices, with a shift in demand from petrol to CNG one of the levers available for managing fuel consumption.
