According to Khabaronline, published Saturday, August 22, 2026 (31 Mordad 1405), Mohammad Jafari, secretary of Iran's Grain Association, said that despite wartime conditions, the supply of imported basic goods continues, and some items are even in oversupply. He said cooking oil prices are currently low and legumes are being sold below their cost price, while rice prices sit around cost.
Jafari, pointing to importers' experience over the past four to five years, including during wartime, said goods supply would continue under any conditions, but stressed that the government must meet its obligations to pay importers what they are owed so that no concern arises over basic goods supply through the end of the year.
