Iran Warns Neighboring States: Siding With US Pressure Would Put Their Interests and Oil Export Routes in Tehran's Crosshairs
22 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, warned on Saturday, August 22, 2026 (31 Mordad 1405) that if Iran's neighboring states side with US economic pressure on Tehran, Iran would target their interests as well as their oil export routes through the Persian Gulf.
According to EcoIran, the remarks came amid rising economic and political tension in recent days between Iran and some regional states. The Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf shipping lanes are among the world's principal oil export corridors, and any threat against them could affect global energy markets.
