According to Eghtesadnews, republished by Donya-e-Eqtesad, at 2:30am Tehran time on Saturday, August 8, 2026 (17 Mordad 1405), the free-market dollar was quoted at 187,860 toman in forward trading, 18 karat gold traded at 18,883,000 toman based on Tehran Gold and Jewelry Union rates, and the Emami coin traded at 187,500,000 toman. Global gold closed Friday, August 7, at 4,342 dollars an ounce and held at that level into the weekend due to the closure of international markets on Saturday and Sunday.
Live data from TGJU at 9:52am Tehran time on Saturday put the gold ounce at 4,343.43 dollars, up 7.13 percent on the week, and 18 karat gold at 18,578,200 toman, up 1.35 percent on the week. Alanchand quoted the free-market dollar at the same time at a buy price of 185,550 toman and a sell price of 187,400 toman.
Eghtesadnews said the dollar's recent partial pullback, driven by lower political tension and hopes for a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, has offset some of the upward pressure that rising global gold has put on domestic gold and coin prices.
