Dollar Rebounds From One Month Low in Tehran's Free Market, Tops 187,000 Tomans

According to Khabaronline, the dollar in Tehran's free market reached 187,800 tomans (1,878,000 rials) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (21 Mordad 1405). Tgju.org reported this level was up 1.19 percent from the prior day (Tuesday, 20 Mordad) and up 3.76 percent over the past month, a marked rebound from this week's one month low of about 183,000 tomans recorded on Monday, August 10 (19 Mordad).
The rebound coincided with a rise in the global gold price and a jump in the Emami gold coin's premium, and came after the dollar's five day slide, the longest losing streak of the year, had earlier been attributed to speculation over easing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Tgju.org's report noted that over the same one month period, the gold coin outperformed the dollar, rising 7.04 percent.
