Economy Ministry Moves Draft Deregulation Rules to Ease Trade Into the Approval Process
27 September 2026 · 10 days ago
Morteza Zamanian, deputy for economic policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, said in a television interview on Sunday, 5 Mehr 1405 (27 September 2026) that the government's economic team has put wide-ranging regulatory reform and deregulation on its agenda to ease trade, in response to restrictions on the country's trade routes, including the naval blockade and, more recently, an air blockade.
He said the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, the central bank and the Economy Ministry have held numerous meetings, and draft plans focused on firms with foreign trade ties have been prepared and are going through the approval process. Zamanian acknowledged that the restrictions raise the landed cost of imports and exports, but said that given Iran's long borders the flow of goods cannot be stopped entirely. The details and timetable for approval have not yet been announced.
