Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the Energy Ministry's deputy for electricity and energy and spokesman for the power industry, set out new details on how industry will be supplied with electricity during the demand-management period. Mehr reported on Monday, 20 Mehr 1405 (12 October 2026), citing the ministry, that distribution companies will supply all industrial towns and industries with demand below 2 MW fully and without any restriction, so that production at small and medium units is not disrupted.
Industries above 2 MW that are customers of distribution companies, as well as metals industries (copper, aluminium, steel and ferroalloys) and petrochemical plants that are customers of regional electricity companies, can draw the power they need without restriction from 22:00 to 10:00. Until the restrictions are fully lifted, slab producers will also receive power under priorities set by the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade. For power beyond their quota, large industries can use the energy exchange, including the "green board", the "free board", purchases of "saving certificates" and the capacity of power plants covered by Article 4 of the law on removing obstacles to developing the electricity industry.
