Exchange Centre remittance rates for the dollar and dirham rise on Sunday, diverging from the falling free market

26 July 2026 · 3 months ago

Remittance rates for the US dollar and the UAE dirham rose in Sunday's trading on 26 July 2026 at Iran's Currency and Gold Exchange Centre, while the euro, the Indian rupee and 100 Japanese yen all declined.

According to figures recorded on Sahmino's price board, the Exchange Centre's remittance dollar sell rate stood at 151,569 tomans in the 07:47 update, up about 102 tomans or 0.07 percent. The remittance dollar buy rate was recorded at 150,205 tomans, up by the same percentage.

The notable feature of this session is the divergence between Iran's two currency markets. The Exchange Centre is the official system through which licensed importers and businesses source foreign currency at a managed rate, while the free market takes its rate from cash supply and demand. On the same day, the free-market dollar fell to 187,000 tomans. The gap between the official and free rates therefore narrowed today, a measure market participants read as a sign of moderating currency expectations.
