Iran's free-market dollar rate continued to fall on Sunday, 26 July 2026, with the dollar trading at 187,000 tomans (1,870,000 rials). Sahmino's own price board recorded the same level as of 11:29 Tehran time.
Price sources do not fully agree on the exact size of today's decline: one puts Saturday's price at 1,891,000 rials and today's fall at 1.11 percent, while another recorded Saturday's close on 25 July at 1,897,000 rials and today's drop at 1.44 percent. Both sources agree on the current level of 1,870,000 rials.
The downward trend began in the middle of last week. The dollar closed at 1,931,000 rials on Thursday, 23 July, and Saturday, 25 July, also ended with a 1.8 percent fall. The retreat coincides with reports of progress in Iran and Oman consultations over shipping arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and a pause in US strikes. The free-market rate is the main pricing variable for Iran's gold and coin markets, and a fall in it typically passes through to those markets with a short lag.
