Jurrien Timmer, Fidelity's director of global macro, said in an analysis published by ArzDigital on Monday, 1 Mehr 1405 (September 22, 2026), that the firm's global liquidity model points to a range of 5,067 dollars an ounce for gold, implying roughly 17 percent upside from gold's price that day near 4,330 dollars. The forecast is an analyst outlook, not a reported event: gold had earlier retreated to around 4,000 dollars in June and July 2026 after peaking near 5,595 dollars.

According to World Gold Council data, gold ETFs posted total net inflows of 18 billion dollars in August 2026, the second largest monthly inflow on record, pushing their combined holdings to a record 4,189 tons and assets under management to 615 billion dollars. The Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee also raised its policy rate by 25 basis points at its September 15 to 16 meeting, a move that typically weighs on gold; Timmer nonetheless argues improving global liquidity and continued gold buying by Asian central banks can support the price.
