Tehran Standards Office Bans Trading Gold Jewelry Without a Valid ID Code

Ghasem Fadavi, director general of Tehran Province's Standards Organization, said on Wednesday, 1 Mehr 1405 (September 23, 2026), that buying or selling gold jewelry without a valid identification code, or with a revoked one, is prohibited. According to ILNA, he said buyers must verify a gold item's ID code before purchase through the SMS inquiry system 10001517. Fadavi added that standards inspectors continue to inspect gold jewelry manufacturers and suppliers across Tehran province. He said since the start of the current Iranian year, ID codes have been issued or renewed for 90 jewelry manufacturing units, bringing the total number of units holding a valid code in Tehran province to more than 1,300.
