Global Gold and Silver Prices Fall as Dollar Strength and Fed Rate Expectations Weigh on Precious Metals
23 September 2026 · 15 days ago
Global gold prices fell about 1.1 percent on Wednesday, 1 Mehr 1405 (September 23, 2026), trading around 4,312 dollars an ounce, down roughly 47 dollars on the day. Silver fell more sharply, dropping nearly 2.8 percent to the 65 dollar range. Arzdigital, citing Reuters, reported that a stronger US dollar and expectations the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates elevated were the main drivers of the decline, since high rates typically reduce the appeal of non yielding assets like gold and silver. The drop extended a multi day slide in precious metals prices.
