8 October 2026 · 4 days ago
Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani said on his personal account on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, that the first shipment of 26-metre metrobuses, together with charging containers and a number of 18-metre electric buses, has entered the country and will soon join Tehran's public transport fleet. Citing ISNA, he described the arrival as getting past the "American blockade".
The statement did not give the number of vehicles, the manufacturer, the contract value or the exact date the fleet will start running. Electric buses and long metrobuses raise capacity per trip and matter for reducing the capital's dependence on diesel-fuelled buses.
