Fourth tranche of Iran's Mother Hope Card paid, 2 million tomans for each of about 270,000 children

4 August 2026 | 3 months ago

Yaghoub Andayesh, deputy for welfare and economic affairs at Iran's Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, said on Tuesday 4 August 2026 that the fourth tranche of credit on the Mother Hope Card has been paid.

Under the scheme, 2 million tomans of food voucher credit has been transferred to the mother's account for each child born between 21 March and 22 July 2026. This tranche covers 270,736 children born in that period. The credit cannot be withdrawn as cash and can only be spent on items approved by the Ministry of Health, including dairy, protein products, pulses, oil, cereals, infant formula and nappies, at contracted stores and pharmacies.

The payment does not depend on a household's income decile. Under the programme, eligible mothers receive 2 million tomans of non cash credit each month for 24 months. Recipients are identified automatically from civil registration data, with no registration required.
