According to Ecoiran, Tehran's currency and gold market climbed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 (27 Mordad 1405), with the free market dollar crossing 188,000 tomans, a rise the outlet linked to intensifying threats from Donald Trump and Iran's own position. Live rates tracked by tgju.org put the dollar at 1,870,100 rials (187,010 tomans) at 19:59 Tehran time that day, up 5,100 rials (0.27 percent) from the previous day. The Emami gold coin's premium stayed near zero, which Ecoiran said shows the rally has not yet turned speculative.
