Global copper prices hit an all time high, outpacing gold and silver
8 September 2026 · last month
The price of the three month copper contract on the London Metal Exchange rose 1.1 percent to 14,673 dollars a ton on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 (17 Shahrivar 1405), and touched an all time intraday high of 14,694 dollars a ton, according to a Reuters report carried by Arzdigital. The record came as gold and silver posted weaker performances in recent days, trading in a narrow range under selling pressure. One of the main drivers behind copper's rally is tighter global supply, as the metal continues flowing toward the United States ahead of possible new American tariffs, reducing available inventory in other markets. Copper's record came as Brent crude approached 100 dollars a barrel amid escalating tensions in West Asia, adding to concerns about a resurgence of inflationary pressure in global commodity markets.
