28 September 2026 · 11 days ago
Spot silver fell about 5 percent on Monday, September 28, 2026 (6 Mehr 1405), to around $61 an ounce, its lowest level in seven weeks. Trading Economics put silver at $61.13, down 4.87 percent; FXStreet had it near $61.50 in the European session, down 4.3 percent; and Sahmino's data at 11:30 Tehran time showed $61.14, down 5.1 percent. Spot gold fell about 3 percent over the same period to $4,153.
FXStreet said rising US Treasury yields had dented the appeal of precious metals; the 10-year yield had reached 5.23 percent on Friday, a 19-year high. The CME FedWatch tool puts the probability of another Federal Reserve rate hike at the October meeting at about 68 percent. Trading Economics cited stalled US-Iran talks and elevated oil prices as reinforcing expectations of further Fed tightening. Despite an 8.1 percent drop over the past month, silver remains about 30 percent higher than a year ago.
