Gold gives back its post-Fed gain, slipping to around $4,047

30 July 2026 · 2 months ago

Spot gold gave back most of its post-Fed gain on the morning of Thursday 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405). At 08:35 Tehran time gold was trading at $4,047.71, while Trading Economics recorded $4,043.42 the same day, down 0.56 percent. The session high was $4,099.66, leaving the ounce roughly $52 below the day's peak.

Silver followed the same path, down 0.9 percent at $57.09 against a same-day high of $58.63. Platinum fell 0.25 percent to $1,598.30 and palladium stood at $1,241.52.

The Federal Reserve held its policy rate in the 3.5 to 3.75 percent range on Wednesday 29 July, its fifth consecutive hold, and precious metals jumped immediately afterwards. Thursday's retreat shows the market correcting that initial reaction. For the Iranian market this ounce price is the base for calculating the intrinsic value of coins and melted gold.
