According to IRNA citing Bloomberg, as reported by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Tuesday, 27 Mordad 1405 (August 18, 2026), the Suezmax tanker Skyros, with a capacity of about one million barrels, was attacked on Sunday, 25 Mordad (August 16), after loading at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near the Russian port of Novorossiysk. Bloomberg said no casualties or oil pollution have been reported so far and declined to give further details. It was the first attack on a vessel at the CPC terminal after about a three-week pause.
The Financial Times, citing Ukrainian officials, had reported that Kyiv previously halted attacks on tankers using the terminal, a pause that followed a phone call between US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Per Reuters, CPC pipeline loadings fell more than 20% below plan in July to about 1.2 to 1.3 million barrels a day, removing roughly 400,000 barrels a day from world markets; Kazakhstan's oil output fell 14% in July from June.
