Hamid Bourd was formally introduced as Iran's caretaker Minister of Petroleum in a ceremony held on Tuesday, 14 Mehr 1405 (October 6, 2026), attended by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and senior oil industry officials. According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, President Masoud Pezeshkian accepted the resignation of outgoing minister Mohsen Paknejad on Sunday, 12 Mehr (October 4), and appointed Bourd as caretaker in the same decree. At the ceremony, Aref praised Paknejad's performance over the past 26 months, particularly during wartime, while Bourd pledged continuity of the oil industry's production and development programs.
