12 October 2026 | 7 days ago

Manouchehr Khajeh-Delouei, head of the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation, said on Monday, 12 October 2026 (20 Mehr 1405), that 145,000 war-affected residential and commercial units have been assessed so far, of which about 103,000 were damaged. Repairs have been completed on more than 92,000 units, and the foundation hopes to announce completion of repairs on all 103,000 by the end of Aban. That is higher than Sunday's report, which spoke of 90,000 units repaired.

He said about 1,360 units were completely destroyed. Their building permits are issued free up to the previous floor area; permits have been issued for 600 units and work has begun, and about 20 units have been completed. The foundation hopes all of them will be built by next year.

Under a government decision, fully destroyed units receive a 25 million toman grant per square metre of previous floor area; Khajeh-Delouei said this is the first time grants have been provided to compensate war damage. In a separate report, Mehr gave the ceiling for repair support as up to 18 million tomans per square metre of the damaged unit's floor area. The figures are the foundation's own and have not been confirmed by an independent source.
