Industrial Solar Inverter Plant Opens as Renewable Capacity Grows by 100 MW a Week

Mashallah Tabe-Jamaat, Iran's deputy energy minister for human capital, research and IT, said on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the opening of an industrial solar inverter factory, that additions to renewable power capacity, once about 100 megawatts a year, have reached about 100 megawatts a week and are set to rise further.

He said Iran's power generation capacity grew by about 8 percent over the past year, while peak-time consumption fell by about 3 percent. The deputy minister said the goal is domestic production of panels, inverters and other solar plant equipment, and that the ministry's main support for knowledge-based companies is building a market for them.
The news follows the $1 billion allocation from the National Development Fund to SATBA for solar plants, reported earlier in Sahmino's newsroom.
