Iran and Armenia announce a new agreement to expand energy cooperation
26 July 2026 · 3 months ago
Iran's oil minister said on Sunday 26 July 2026 that Tehran and Yerevan had reached a new agreement to expand energy cooperation. According to the minister, the agreement covers gas exports, the supply of petroleum products and the formation of a joint working group between the two countries.
Armenia is one of Iran's northern neighbours and has for years received Iranian gas under a swap arrangement in exchange for electricity, while part of Iran's overland trade with the Caucasus runs through Armenian territory. No financial value, export volume or implementation timetable was announced for the new agreement.
