Iran Raises Wholesale Electricity Cap to Offset Fuel Costs; Profit Effect Will Vary by Plant
20 October 2026 | 4 days ago
In a disclosure on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, Niroo Investment said a Ministry of Energy notice raises the wholesale electricity purchase cap for participating power plants to 7,095 rials per kilowatt-hour from the start of Aban 1405, compared with the previous 4,345-rial cap. The new level reflects higher fuel costs and is not necessarily the actual sale price received by each plant. The company said the profit effect could be zero for a plant operating at average grid efficiency and that the real effects will emerge in subsidiaries' reports. Several other power producers have filed notices on the same directive.
