Iran's annual housing rent inflation falls to 32.5%, the lowest in 44 months

30 July 2026 · 2 months ago

According to the Statistical Center of Iran's consumer price index report for Tir 1405 (22 June to 22 July 2026), monthly inflation in the housing rent index eased to 2.3% and annual rent inflation fell to 32.5%, the lowest annual reading for the rent index in 44 months, that is since Azar 1401. Point-to-point rent inflation was reported at 31.7%, holding within the 31% band.

The notable point in the report is that Tir marks the start of the tenant-moving season and the peak of rental demand, yet the pace of rent growth did not accelerate appreciably even as the market entered that period.

Housing rent again recorded the lowest annual and point-to-point inflation of any group in the consumer price index in Tir, and the gap with headline inflation is substantial: monthly headline inflation was 3.1% against 2.3% for rent, point-to-point headline inflation was 87.9% against 31.7% for rent, and annual headline inflation was 66% against the annual rent figure. The numbers come from the Statistical Center's official report as carried by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
