The public relations office of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on the evening of Thursday, 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405) that its attack drones had struck the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain in the 26th phase of the operation it calls Saegheh. The announcement was published at 21:25 Tehran time.
According to the Army's statement, electricity generators, a navigation system and administrative and support buildings used by US forces at the base were targeted, and the Army described this phase as a response to the killing of one of its air force Su-24 pilots. The damage assessment comes from the attacking side, and no independent confirmation had been published as of the time of this summary; US Central Command had rejected a similar claim the same day regarding the destruction of three F-35 aircraft.
Sheikh Isa is one of the US bases in the Persian Gulf. Continued attacks on bases in the region keep the geopolitical risk premium in oil prices and shipping costs elevated, a factor that held Brent crude in the $89 to $91 a barrel range on Thursday, 30 July.
