Iran's car market rises on Thursday 1 Mordad; cheapest sedan nears 1.23 billion tomans

24 July 2026 | 3 months ago

Iran's domestic car market turned higher again on Thursday, 1 Mordad 1405 (23 July 2026), as the rial weakened and gold rose, lifting the free-market prices of most Iran Khodro and Saipa models. Based on quoted market rates, the Saipa Quick GX-L manual remains the cheapest passenger car in the open market at around 1.23 billion tomans, in line with the latest price recorded on Sahmino (about 1.225 billion tomans).

Among Iran Khodro models, the Soren Plus with the TU5P engine posted the largest single-day gain, according to market reports. Market participants attribute the fresh wave of price increases to the rising currency and gold rates and to inflation expectations. Open-market car prices typically sit above factory prices, and the gap between them (the price bubble) is an important gauge of demand pressure and expectations in this market.
