Iran's central bank governor attends parliament's industries committee on Monday, with lending rates and unrepatriated export FX on the agenda

Mostafa Pourdehghan, the MP for Ardakan and a member of parliament's Industries and Mines Committee, told the Fars news agency on the evening of Sunday 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405) that Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati will attend the committee's session on Monday 27 July (5 Mordad). He said the three main topics will be export proceeds in foreign currency that have not been repatriated, how FX is allocated for imported cars, and the possibility of an increase in bank lending rates.
Pourdehghan said reports on the size of the unrepatriated FX are contradictory, with some figures putting it between 90 and 100 billion dollars, an amount he said needs to be examined and clarified. He also said a central bank official recently spoke of a possible rise in lending rates from the current 21 to 23 percent range to 35 percent, and that the committee will examine this because of its likely effect on production costs.
Iran's state broadcaster IRIB had earlier reported that Hemmati would appear at the industries committee's sessions this week.
