Mohammad Soleimani, technical affairs director general of Iran's Civil Servants Pension Fund, detailed the implementation of Article 29 of the Seventh National Development Plan on Thursday, August 6, 2026 (15 Mordad 1405), according to Donya-e-Eqtesad. He said employees with fewer than 15 years of service as of the law's effective date (August 3, 2024) must work five additional years before retiring, while those with more than 28 years of service on that date are exempt from the extended requirement. Under the law, adopted to reduce pension fund deficits, employees with 25 to 28 years of service must add two months to their required tenure for each year until retirement, those with 20 to 25 years must add three months, and those with 15 to 20 years must add four months. The increase stops once men reach age 62 and women reach 55. Soleimani said war veterans, people with disabilities, and workers in hazardous or arduous jobs are exempt, and that employees who retire voluntarily without meeting the mandatory tenure will receive a pension proportional to their actual years of service.
