Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi, head of FARAJA's economic security police, announced on 6 August 2026 (15 Mordad 1405) the discovery of a large scale fraud, money laundering and document forgery case run under the cover of an immigration company called Pars Canada. He said 300 people have filed complaints against the company so far, and the estimated value of the fraud is about 4,000 billion tomans (4 trillion tomans).
Rahimi said the case's main suspect, who had presented himself online as an entrepreneur holding a postdoctoral degree, defrauded people seeking jobs abroad by forging academic and language certificates and setting up fake accounts. He said more than 2,000 billion tomans in the suspects' real estate has been seized, and police prevented $300 million belonging to the main suspect from leaving the country. Rahimi said seven principal defendants, all members of one family, are currently residing in Canada, and efforts are under way to negotiate their extradition.
