Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's first vice president, issued a statement on the social network X on Saturday 1 August 2026 in response to recent threats by US President Donald Trump, describing any attack on the country's infrastructure as a red line.
In the message Mokhber wrote: "You calculate with military equations, but we answer with the logic of history. An attack on Iran's infrastructure directly awakens the fault lines on which 250 years of your hegemonic architecture has been built."
The statement came at a time when the threat of strikes on Iran's energy facilities has been one of the factors moving the currency, gold and oil markets in recent days. On the same day, the free market US dollar rate in Iran stood at 193,700 tomans, up 0.68 percent from the previous day.
