Under Iran's official calendar, three midweek days in the second half of Mordad 1405 are public holidays: Tuesday 13 Mordad (4 August 2026) for Arbaeen, Wednesday 21 Mordad (12 August 2026) for the passing of the Prophet Muhammad and the martyrdom of Imam Hassan Mojtaba, and Thursday 22 Mordad (13 August 2026) for the martyrdom of Imam Reza.
Friday 30 Mordad (21 August 2026) is also an official holiday, marking the martyrdom of Imam Hassan Askari and the start of the imamate of Imam Mahdi, but because it coincides with the weekend it does not change the pattern of working days.
The successive breaks affect banking, commercial and logistics planning. The Tehran Stock Exchange trades Saturday to Wednesday and is closed on official holidays, so the weeks ending 13 Mordad and 22 Mordad will have fewer trading sessions. The report advises businesses to arrange contract timings, cheque due dates and administrative follow ups in advance.
