Iran's Industrial Input Inflation Hits a Record in Tir, Raising Warnings of a New Price Wave
22 August 2026 | 2 months ago
According to an ecoiran report, the latest SHAMKH purchasing managers' index for Iran's industrial sector shows input inflation reached around 109% in Tir (July to August), a level unprecedented in recent years. The same data shows industrial conditions worsened from the previous month (Khordad), with the sharpest drop in efficiency in the food and oil sectors, where both supply and demand have weakened. The food industry, despite its strategic role during the economic blockade, is seeing falling demand that the report links to declining household purchasing power. Ecoiran warns that the rise in input costs is expected to feed through to finished industrial goods prices in the coming months.
