Iran's Industry Ministry authorises conditional exports of chicken meat in a letter to Customs

Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has sent a letter to the Customs Administration authorising conditional exports of chicken meat and its cuts, including legs, breasts, shoulders and wings. The decision was reported on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
It comes after the Statistical Centre of Iran said chicken meat output in the month of Khordad 1405 fell 24 percent year on year to 169,000 tonnes. Opening an export channel alongside falling output is a variable that protein-market participants see as affecting the domestic supply and demand balance, and therefore chicken prices, in the months ahead. The word "conditional" in the ruling means the export permit depends on terms and ceilings set by the ministry.
The protein market is a meaningful component of the food inflation basket, and changes in it feed directly into the consumer price index.
